Simple Pleasure Thursdays

031

At our church, whenever a child enters Kindergarten they are given a bible. We have been through this with Natalie and well now its Adam’s turn. We made our “appointment” for Ms. Pam from church to come over and give Adam his bible and pray for him as he enters a new stage in life.  This was so precious! He carries this bible proudly and exclaims that “I can read it all by myself”, we thank Ms. Pam for taking the time to bring Adam his bible and look forward to watching him grow as a child of the Lord.

Simple Pleasure Thursdays

I believe every married couple should go out on dates. We strive to go out at least once a month without children, as our budget allows. When we go out together, as a couple, we are able to concentrate on only each other. We are able to have conversations, have fun, and grow with each other! Mike and I have been married for 8.5 years and together for almost 10 years. We enjoy being best friends. Our marriage has not always been good, we have had some ugly parts, but we have had more better than ugly! As each of us individually grows with Christ we then, grow together with Christ and our marriage gets stronger.

Here is Mike and I on our FREE date night for June! We went to a local church here in town for a Rock the Lawn Concert, which featured three bands. The bands Love on Pages, Day 40, and then Sanctus Real were on stage that night. We had so much fun, and were really glad we didn’t have any children with us as we were able to sit and listen to music and worship our Lord!

Love on Pages is a local band, that are just starting out. They had wonderful music, but seemed a little nervous! I can’t blame them though, I would have been as well.

Day 40, this is a band from our own town and they have put out a couple of albums. We really like these guys! The guitar player goes to church with us.

SANCTUS REAL…these guys were phenomenal. They sang all of their most recent hits and some older ones. They also gave a few testimonies and backgrounds of their songs. Did you know this band has been around for 15 years and it has three of its original members! Then the other two members have been in for at least 5+ years.

Yes, they used a banjo and xylophone.

We had a wonderful time at our FREE concert and had a wonderful babysitter that was FREE! Thank you so much to her!

HMM…what should we do on our next date night?

Clean Water

Product Details

After listening to a missionary in my church that lives in Kenya, where they don’t have clean drinking water, I thank God for what we do have. How very simple we take for granted our clean water. We can simply turn on a faucet and have flowing water, as much or as little as we would want to “pay” for.  We have flushable toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, ice makers, water fountains, bottled water, shower/bath tubs, city water, well-water, swimming pools and sometimes even a water feature on the front of our refrigerators. We are blessed beyond measure here in the United States. I am embarrassed to admit that I sometimes complain that I have to wash dishes once again in my sink, have to drink water from the tap, or even clean the toilet. Thank you God that you have given us this simple pleasure that make our lives a little bit easier to navigate through.

What brings you simple pleasure?

Blessings

SCISSORS

If I could only bring so many items to a deserted island, I would bring my scissors. I absolutely would not be able to function with out scissors. I can’t tell you how many times a day I reach for these. I have numerous pairs throughout the house. I buy a couple new pair each year when shopping for school supplies! I’m a softy for any type of office supplies!

A few uses for my scissors…..

  • Cutting up food for children
  • Cutting hair ties out of my daughters hair
  • Cutting open boxes
  • Cutting a straw that is to long
  • Unlocking the bathroom door lock, to free a child from another child
  • Cutting open popsicles
  • Cutting strings off of clothing
  • Cutting frayed edges of carpets/rugs
  • Killing a bug

Carousels

These little guys love going to the zoo and riding the carousel. This is definitely the highlight of the zoo for them. They talk about which animal they will ride  and how fast they will go up and down.

This particular trip to the zoo was last summer and Natalie and Adam got to ride, but as you can see…Travis is asleep in the stroller. Poor little guy has yet to ride this. Hopefully he will get to ride it sometime this summer.

Blessings

Simple Pleasure Thursdays

These little ducks brought a happy time to us one evening. The kids enjoyed feeding them bread and chasing them around our “front lawn” at the time.

These little visitors came to see us while we were living in North Carolina back in 2007. It was just a simple evening of hanging out at home, grilling on the grill, and playing outside. The ducks came pretty often and we would feed them.

We were a family of four at this time with Natalie at 3 and Adam at 18M, these two little ones enjoyed laughing as they got to see the ducks come closer and closer to them. The ducks would “quack” and the kids would repeat!

This is a simple pleasure of our family. It brought us a great memory. 100_0517100_0518100_0515100_0513
